Are there fees for accessing GenV data, biosamples or services?

Yes. Fees will apply depending on the type of request, data preparation, linkage, biosample processing, analysis environment use or other support required.

Costs for GenV supported Amazon WorkSpaces include a monthly base fee plus an hourly usage fee for the time the workspace is actively in use. Further details are available via the User Guide - Indicative AWS Usage Costs & Billing.

CVDL datasets are accessed through CVDL’s Victorian data Access Linkage Trust (VALT). The associated costs comprise two main components. The first is the cost of data access and preparation, which varies depending on factors such as the number of datasets requested, the approvals required from data custodians, application setup, and any data extraction, preparation, or linkage activities needed. The second component is the cost of the VALT workspace, which is determined by the required computing capacity, software licences, data storage needs, and the duration and timing of access.

How will I be billed for these fees?

GenV supported Amazon WorkSpaces

You will receive an invoice each month covering your AWS usage for the prior calendar month. Invoices display a single aggregated amount in $AUD rather than a breakdown of individual AWS cost items. This keeps your invoice simple and easy to process.

Do I need GenV approval before submitting a grant application that uses GenV data or biosamples? 

Independent data access

No. If you are applying for funding to conduct independent research using GenV data, you do not need GenV approval before submitting your grant application.

However, we encourage you to review the available data, access requirements, and associated costs.

Research collaboration

Yes. If your grant application includes collaboration with GenV, access to GenV biosamples, infrastructure or resources, co-investigators from GenV, a letter of support, or any commitments on behalf of GenV, you should contact us as early as possible before submission.

This allows time to discuss your proposal, assess feasibility, identify any required approvals, and agree on GenV's involvement in the application.
